Hallo
Cannot see an answer in the wicky/forums but I want to save a menu "setup" I have made as follows.

Inserted a  "group of elements" container into page.
Inside that I place five "Text Links " (horizontally) each with a popup menu attached (which actually drop down as I repositioned it. )

This structure is a useful menu system  and could be used again if it could be saved.

I read the wiki on saving as"new elements" but seems to only apply to "modified" original elements - not groups. So is it possible to save groups?  -  if so,how?
and if not - it would be my suggestion for a new featurei  (if possible.)

thanks

Oh dear I'm embarrassed - I just found the save option in the style menu. Looked for it before but couldn't see it and assumed feature wasn't available for my "selection"Angry

Whoa !

That "save" didn't seem to be what I wanted !

I inserted anothe " group of elements " item to the page - applied the Style I had saved but the texts and popups  did not load so clearly my original question still standsClap

Hi 0oseven,

For the moment, there isn't a way to save a group of elements the way you're describing.

If you're looking to re-use the elements on multiple pages of your site, put the group in a Layer and assign that layer to the pages you want to use it on.

If you want to use the group in another project, you can open a second instance of openElement and copy and paste the elements in question.

In the meantime, I'm sure Dmit could shed more light on whether or not it would be possible to save a group of elements.

thanks for response - I will note your suggestions. Maybe the save option will be intruduced if it's feasable and thought worthy as a feature.
cheers

I can add that in the above case ( grouped elements with drop pop ups ) when I copied the group to a new page, although the "trigger" text boxes were copied the popup functions were not.

notalotta people know that - but i thought you might.
cheers

ps I never know whether to post this stuff in bugs ?

Hi.

This functionality - saving and reusing groups of elements - is partly implemented, it is used notably to create Packs (see the menu to the right). You can use it by changing your page type to PHP (menu Page -> button server-side Scripting -> PHP), selecting your elements + pop-up menu element (you can use Element Explorer on the bottom-left of openElement and Ctrl+click to select several elements) then Ctrl+Shift+P to create a Pack - in the Pack Creation Dialog, just enter a name, ex. Menu01. Then your Pack will be accessible in the PAck tree in the Category "various".

Or you can select elements with menus and copy-paste them; just, for the copy-paste to work, you need to select last element (still holding down the Ctrl key) on the page itself not in the Element Explorer, otherwise elements will not be copied.

The problem in both cases is that, for pop-up menus, updating the link to their elements is not implemented (this will be done for next versions), so you will need to re-configure your pop-up menus to link them again to corresponding elements on the page.

Good day
D

P.S. If you changed your page type to PHP to make a Pack, you can of course change it back to HTML after your pack is created.
