Confused I have just downloaded openElement and am very much a newbie.  I have created a few pages but I can't figure out how to create a template.  Can someone please step me through the process? Can I make multiple templates within one project, or am I limited to one?  Thanks in advance for any help provided!

That ist pretty simple. And is one of the very nice unique features of openElement.
Welcome to OpenElement (oE).

You create a template just the same way as any ordinary page; and then save this page as template (in oE they are named 'Layer'; see the Site Explorer folder -Layers-). *view1*
To save that page as 'Layer', right click on the name of that page in Site Explorer (you are probably working on that page). Save it as 'New Layer'.
I would recommend not to change the *Base* Layer name.

You may stack as many templates/Layers as you need, but use one final Layer per Page only. That Layer may contain any amount of subLayers (as said). *view3*

You may change the Page's layer assignment at anytime. *view2*

As soon as you modify any of the templates/layers, the system takes care to transfer that modification to all affected pages.

Yes, it's that simple and that powerful.

Don't change the name of the *HomePage* and don't use it as Layer; because it becomes the index.htm.
And don't forget the favicon.

*Danksagung* contains *Base* Template/Layer
