Hi,

My team and I would like to be able to access and edit the same site files from the same location (but not at the same time), so I tried saving everything to a shared network folder. When I tried to open the file it gave me the errors "The file path for permissions testing is not valid" and "You do not have the necessary Windows access permissions to modify the project folder."

I've changed the permissions of the folders to give me and my team full control over the files, but this error persists.

Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong? Is it possible to access and edit OE files from a network location?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

I never heard that someone could do it.

I am absolutely sure that a project can't be openned twice simultaneously.

Other than that, here is a note that I intend to send to every new forum user:

Welcome to the openElement Forum

To acquire better openElement knowledge, my suggestion is  that you spend some time looking at the video tutorial on this YouTube playlist.

In addition, there are other videos on this other YouTube playlist

You will find several user tutorial here

In addition to the models available from openElement’s library you may have a look to those offered by Sensode

In addition to OE’s standard elements, some additional user designed elements are available here

P.S.

It is important that you understand that all help provided here is given by volunteers.

We are not openElement’s staff.

We are happy to help when we are available to provide tips, tricks, and sometimes a few code lines. We appreciate that users make a serious research and self-study effort.

Some of us work in Europe, others around the world. Consequently, the response time may also depend on time zones.

When the requirement is too great, it can be contracted and the required retribution will pay for the development.

Always take care to open a new subject for each of your questions

There is something that can be done but you will have to be carefull.

Give each web designer a full copy of the project.

Make sure that only one person is in charge of the layers

Make sure that only one person works on a page

Make sure that one person is in charge of the configuration control.  This person will receive the modified project copy, open both (the master and the copy) and copy all the modified page content to the master project.  The master project must be saved, closed then reopenned right after.

You may have to clean the project links sometime.

Make a full backup
    • Empty the project's Recycle Bin
    • Save the project
    • Project Tab
      • Other
        • Backup

Rebuild Links
    • Project Tab
      • Preferences
        • Maintenance Tab
          • Rebuild pages and website link map

Once this is done, make another backup.
