    Posted: 07 Avr 2021 at 17:38
Hello,

GDPR is progresively being applied more strictly and it affects, among other issues, to the implementation of compliant cookie consent capture methods. Based on these the old consent banners are no longer compliant.

This affects both the old "implicit" notice on cookies, as well as the relatively recent acceptance banner , i.e:
"This website uses cookies to ensure you get the best experience on our website. Learn more    Got it! "
Scripts for these can be obtained for free in several sites like this one websitepolicies[com]/create/cookie-consent-banner

Thus a complete consent management is now required  allowing the user to customize settings AND the publisher to keep record of the consent (for more info see cookiebot[.]com/en/cookie-banner/
)

The problem -and reason for this post- is that the available commercial consent managers are themselves based on a 3rd party incorporating their cookies to your site and thus getting information on your clients, visitors etc.

So the question are:
  • Does anyone know about a GDPR compliant cookie banner that does not collect data of the viewers of your site?
  • If we are to create our own script, how can you keep and maintain the database for consent recordings as part of the site?
Any guidance would be more than welcome

Hi Hobby,
I had installed that banner but it is not fully compliant.
GDPR requires that
a) Users are able to opt out of cookies and still use the site (at least partially)
b) that a record from the consent is kept.
The informative banner is therefore not compliant.
GDPR Authorities are starting to apply the law more strictly and I am therefor installing a fully compliant one as the one offered for free by tarteaucitron.

The tutorial in the french forum on a free fully compliant cookie banner deals with all the process

The original script is 3 years old, but it has been regularly updated (last version, march 2021)
