Hello OE Forum: I was given a solution for the background slider image from Hobby01, which worked fantastic on my previous project. I now have a new website/page (that is quite simple) but wanted to do the same. Since this website/page is more responsive than my first project, I seem to be having trouble with the placement of the background slider. Every time I drag the element onto the page, it shows up underneath the footer and not as a background. The page itself has a "group of elements container" which takes up the whole page and onto this is where I placed all the other objects, images, text, etc. This is how I got the page to be somewhat responsive. So I am wondering if this has to do with the fact that the background slider is always showing up under the footer even though I might drag the element to another part of the page. Any help again will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your patience. deewebdev

Do you need a single image or a complete slider?

Hello Hobby01: Sorry for the reply so late. I did not see this message until now. Yes, all I am interested in is 1 image that takes up the whole page as a background image that does not move while I scroll up or down the page with the elements that are on top. I have converted the image to black and white in Photoshop and then set its opacity to very light so that it does not get in the way of all the other elements. You had originally given me advice on how to obtain this background slider by clicking on the more templates button underneath the elements button which worked fabulously on the previous website. However, the previous website was not responsive but this new site I created is pretty much responsive since I created a container first, then placed all the other elements on there which seemed to work. Can the Group of Elements I created be the reason why this background slider is always showing up underneath the header only? Thanks for your help once again! Sincerely, deewebdev |

Hello Hobby01: Thank you for the information you provided me! I did what you explained and the image comes up in the body of the page. OpenElement only allows me to insert the group of elements onto the mid portion of the page or in the footer section. Which is the lowest layer and how do I get to that? I have provided a screen shot of this image to your email. Regards, deewebdev

In the site explorer, you will see a folder named Layers.
In this folder you will find a base layer, open it, it will look like a page Pout your element on this layer and save it. Then, go to your page and attach the base layer as this page layer. There is an icon for it that tells me that you are not using any layer on your page. This is the process to use the same components on several pages. A standard menu will be created on a layer and attached to all the site pages. Edited by Hobby001 - Dec 11 2019 at 12:45pm |

Hello Hobby01 Did what you told me to do with Base layer and it works fine. Here is the link to the site I so far created... https://www.johnkdewey.com/ Thanks so much for all of your help. As you can see, this is a very simple website but is very functional. It does seem that the background slider has a slight delay in loading after the webpage loads, but I can live with that. If there is a setting somewhere to optimize the background slider, please let me know. Maybe there is a way to make the actual image "lighter" then re-save so that it can load faster? Regards, deewebdev |
