So my big assignment got postponed, which means I can finish up this project and have a new website before the new year. I have the latest version my my site here: http://www.digitalcasemanagement.com/new_directory/index.htm Not quite comfortable with going live just yet, but I think the final will be not very different from this. I think these are my last questions, and they are about the options in "Preferences" under the Maintenance tab. Two of the options are:
What will happen if I click those buttons? Will I be able to undo whatever they do? Thanks, -Hjiorst |

1) Default configuration for menus and explorers: [Default]? It resets your individual settings, to the standard given by OE. Usually this is not necessary, unless you are completely lost in OE. Poject is retained. But your individual settings are gone. NBD = No Big Deal. 2) Optimize all website images: [Optimize]? That optimizes (shrinks) all/selected images (Resources) to a minimum usable size. Causes much faster transfer & display. The optimize process may take a relative long time to finish, don't interrupt, remain calm. Important: It creates a zip-backup first. So, if something might go wrong, you may recover. That zip file could also be transferred as back up to a safe place (cloud). But I would recommend to backup (copy) the complete project manually, before you optimize. That might also be helpful at the display of the various pages/images, which now come up very much too slow - visitors may be bored and click away (already recommended it). Anyway, you should keep the original images independent in a separate directory, and pull them on demand into the project resources. So the originals are always safe. You may exclude selected images from beeing omptimized.
Also, on a single base you may optimize particular images. Edited by digizar - Oct 26 2019 at 2:39am |
