hello,
I am completely new at OE so please bear with my stupidity at times. I used the Senseblack template and my web page looks great.... on my computer. As soon as I Published to go daddy's server, poof! all formatting is gone, right now it can be viewed at www.escapekutztown.com/mindwarp.htm . it still looks great and just like the senseblack on my local pc. Please offer any suggestions, Id really like to publish it correctly. thank you in advance for any help |

Hi,
Did you use OpenElement's utility to publish it? Edited by Hobby001 - Mar 21 2019 at 4:25pm |

There is a hidden trick, a trap. If you 'Export to Folder', all output is placed into that folder. And the sources are marked as 'completed'. I you now (immediateld hereafter) try to 'publish to Web' (or 'to folder') again, nothing is published - or just the modified sources, unless you specify 'ALL files'. Because those unmodified files are marked as 'done/published'. See file extension *.dat. Because after any export/publish the affected files are marked as 'done'. Also means that in the second round you probably lose the (modified) *.css files. Remedy: You MUST simply publish ALL. And publish them completey (all) immediately, or
'export them ALL to folder' and transfer them from that folder up to the server with an external program pe filzezilla. ALL files. That would include the older (all) *.css (and *.html) files, which would be missed if you try to transfer after a second compilation. There might also be a serious mismatch in the *.css files, or at least some confusion. If in doubt, just transfer/publish ALL files. That solves many problems. I prefer the methode to 'Export to Folder' and upload via filezilla - exluding any huge images ('directory listing filters'. Edited by digizar - Mar 21 2019 at 11:43pm |

But if you use OE's publishing method, you can take advantage of the fact that this utility can clean-up the site while removing deleted files.
Publishing sensblack went well for me several times. I'd rather know what process was used by genglish72 prior to propose any solution. |

Thank you for the help! I actually fixed it by removing all the files and re publishing through open element.
