Subject: User Level Access

Hi,
I'm currently using OE to build a site for the school I work at for the students to access their reading material. Working with OE is an amazing experience.  I have followed all instructions on the User space and created all the pages accordingly, but the "access level to user such as-1,0, 1, 5, and 10" is in my case the problem. My question is : How can I either add more levels or modify the existing ones. I don't want first years to access second year material or technical students to access commercial students material etc..... the teachers is a different story. So there you have it. Please let me know if there is a solution for this problem

Correct me if I am wrong

You want students to access their documentation without using passwords.

You want to create some sort of structure so students from level one will be able to go directly level one documentation.

Once they see their documentation, they won't see other levels documentation unless they go back and select another level.

Hi,
Correct I want level one students to access level one documentation after they login
and students from level 2 to access level 2 docs.....etc etc
Only teachers and the admin will be able to access all docs as they are the ones who will
be modifying and uploading all docs

So you need a password protected site.

Do you plan to have personnal passwords for each students?

Have you considered using free learning web software such as Chamilo, Moodle, Omeka, Atutor or Gibbon

I know that a lot of Quebec's universities are using Moodle

Sorry for the delay in replying,
Covid-19 is making our lives a hell. The services you mentioned are not for free as I'm trying to provide our school with options that are not going to cost much. and yes I want each students to have their own password.
That is why I wanted to edit the level access, by adding for example a 2 for the first years. I need to add 4 extra levels of access

You can create your main site with links to sub sites

For 5 levels, that mean a main site and 5 sub sites.

Using OpenElement's site Explorer, create a directory structure in your main site.

School site directory (main)
Level_1 directory
Level_2 directory
Level_3 directory
Level_4 directory
Level_5 directory

Your School directory will contain the main school site showing general information and 5 different links pointing on sites that resides in the 5 sub directories.

===============================================================================================================

Each level site will have to be created as a complete site and uploaded separately in the proper sub-directory.

To manage users you should implement the Userspace01 packs in each of them.

Prior to that ensure that your host supports SqlLite or MySql.  SqlLite being the easyest to use (if I am right).

Prior to start implementing the packs, make sure to save a complete back-up of you site.

Project tab=>Other=>Back-up Project

Any way, every time you plan to modify your site, start with this back-up procedure.  There is a big chance that you will appreciate it one day.

How to do this part (did you mean create a folder within the main site?)
I created the 5 complete websites for each level but to link from the main site each individual sites I can not seem to find a way?
Can you assist me with this???

You have two options.

1) create 5 sub domains on your host and publish the 5 sites into these subdomains.  Then point the links to these subdomains.

2) cerate 5 folders into your main site and publish these 5 sites accordingly. Then point the links to the index.htm page in those directories.

Once your sites are published to your host, go back to your main project and create the links to
