Greetings openElement community!

After months of extremely hard work, we're thrilled to present our latest stable version, v 1.44:

http://download.openelement.com/openElement.exe" rel="nofollow - http://download.openelement.com/openElement.exe

Fixes:

·         Several bugs corrected, including SMTP mail sending, Image Zoom, etc.

·         Fixed error with opening pages when a user’s name contains special characters

·         Improved performance: opening/refreshing pages, selecting/de-selecting elements, and moving elements now much faster.

·         Fixed Pop-Up Menu error, as well as errors in renaming pages created with Database Packs.

New Features:

·         Element Editor: Version 1.43 includes the beta version of openElement’s Element Editor, which will allow more advanced users to create and edit new elements.  The documentation isn't quite ready yet, but we'll soon be adding examples in a new sub-forum.

·         Custom Classes: You asked, we listened. Now users can enter one or more classes for an element under Properties and in Styles/Customize for a Style Zone - useful for CSS and JS scripts

·         Responsive Design Tools: Possibly our most requested feature, and here it is… A set of tools to build responsive pages using relative content (Responsive templates will be released soon).

o    Containers (Group of Elements) with Relative Positioning: Position and align elements relative to one another by using new buttons on the element/containers or the Element Explorer.

o    Overflow/Scrolling Properties for Containers: Useful for removing undesired scrollbars in containers.

o    Bottom Bar: Change size in pixels or % without losing the "physical" size (automatically recalculates between units).

o    Using the mouse to move or resize an element/container does not lose "%" value (automatic recalculation), and preserves CSS values for Right and Bottom Distance if Left and Top are deleted.

o    Ribbon Menu (Top of Editing Pane):

§  New button in Page Tab toggles between Default Size and Full Screen (100% page width).

§  New option in Page Tab -> Styles Button called "Size in Browser.” Select how the page body should display in a browser (as opposed to the editing pane):

·         100% width in browser (choose if it’s easier to edit the page without passing to 100% in the editor)

·         Height Adapts to Content: When using elements with automatic height (multi-line text, database-linked dynamic elements, or any element that could change size in the browser), the page’s height will adapt automatically to changes in content.

·         Automatic Height: Choose when using "relative" positioned content in the page body. Responsive templates will use this option.

§  In Selection Tab, new options to change size (width/height) in pixels, percentage, or automatically.

·         Copy-Paste in Specific Spot: Just right click on an unoccupied part of the page and select Paste to Paste the element in that particular spot (does not work in containers)

·         New Buttons in Top Menu: "Other" button in Project menu, which allows users to 1) open the current project folder, 2) Make a backup of the project (in a ZIP file), or 3) Open a "Notes" text file.

·         Switch Any Page with Home Page: in the Site Explorer (left), right-click on a page to turn any page into the Home Page (the old Home Page will replace the page taking its place).

·         Float Images in Text Elements: Users can now specify Float properties and other CSS (margins, etc.) for images within text elements (Single-Line/Multi-Line Text). This is useful for wrapping text around an image and generally customizing the layout (not to mention the responsive implications).

Improvements:

Database:

·         Automatic Installation of Packs. It is now easier than ever to install the User Space and/or the back-office system + dynamic elements. Just double-click on simplified automatic installation, fill out a few important settings. Then, openElement will create the administration pages and place the corresponding packs automatically. Previewing (F12) the first of these new pages once will be enough to initialize the system of Packs you've just installed.

·         Multiple corrections within Packs

·         Dynamic Elements: Pack #80 (Dynamic Item List) now supports pagination, and a new pack – Pack #81 – contains the list of page numbers to display all articles, one page at a time.

·         Several new Packs have been added in category UserSpace01: "21" - a mini-login form (updated) to place on any page of the website (even the home page); "80" - a container that only displays elements if the user is logged in.

·         Basic/Detailed Pack Configuration: When a Pack is unpacking, only the most important settings will appear in the configuration wizard (the "Detailed Mode" checkbox is unchecked). Reconfiguring the Pack displays all possible settings, unless you uncheck "Detailed Mode."

Past Changelog:

- Fixed errors regarding JPEG background images (PNG files and image-elemens arenot affected), including overly large file size and width limit of 1200px.
(Note: Background images that have already been set will not be corrected automatically - please check the large background images on the website, and re-enter them to considerably optimize their file-size online)

Hi.

This is strange that English was not detected as your language. Did you already use openElement before on this machine?

Please start OE, and find a topmost bar with small buttons, one of which is Configuration (having 2 gears as its icon). In its sub-menu Langues, you can set English language.

Good day
D

I've never used OpenElement before. Downloaded it for the first time last night. It has English chosen as my default.  Everything on the Home Page is in French.

There's a difference between the project language and the application language. I think that you have English as "default culture" for your project, but that openElement's interface itself is in French. Please check the topmost menu as described above.

Did you download the software from the openElement website or from a third party? We had a language issue with a prior release, but the version available online now should be fixed.

Please try downloading from http://www.openelement.com/download.htm" rel="nofollow - openelement.com/download.htm

I thought I received it from your website.  This worked.  I'm new to all this, please for give my lack of knowledge.  Are all the templates in French?

Some templates may have some residual French terms, but for the most part, they're fairly language-neutral. (The gibberish in text areas is usually randomly generated Latin).

Hello,

I've downloaded OpenElement from all the sites shown on the download page
http://www.openelement.com/download.htm

The link at the top (Windows Free Download) directs us to cnet's download.com has an installer named
cbsidlm-cbsi213-openElement-BP-75894143.exe

A check at virustotal.com shows 7 viruses

Antivirus Result Update
AVware Cnet AdInstaller (fs) 20140904
Agnitum Riskware.Agent! 20140904
DrWeb Adware.Downware.6713 20140904
ESET-NOD32 a variant of Win32/CNETInstaller.B 20140904
Ikarus PUA.CNETInstaller 20140904
TrendMicro-HouseCall Suspicious_GEN.F47V0728 20140904
VIPRE Cnet AdInstaller (fs) 20140904

The link at
http://www.openelement.com/download.htm
downloads openelement.exe

A check at
virustotal.com shows:
NANO-Antivirus    Trojan.Win32.Autoruner.cvaoso   20140904

I've downloaded the program from all the Software Directory Links shown on the download page.

All show the same virus according to www.virustotal.com
NANO-Antivirus    Trojan.Win32.Autoruner.cvaoso   20140904

I don't know if this is a false positive or if there is a new virus that only Nano-antivirus picks up, but the cnet download.com site appears clearly infected.

Are you aware of any problems?  Any idea if the virustotal.com result is a false positive?

Thanks!

Shagbark

My pleasure,

Also, Filedir is offering version 1.34 (or perhaps 1.44 with the slip of a finger).

1) The direct link to download from our site is

http://download.openelement.com/openElement.exe" rel="nofollow - http://download.openelement.com/openElement.exe

Normally it contains no malware whatsoever (there used to be a link to download a free video converter containing malware, but it was removed in this version I believe.

2) I checked the file downloaded at CNet, and strangely, [Edit: please see my next post] I do not see any errors except the one of Nano Antivirus (which I think is simply a paranoid message of its heuristic analyser; it's even more annoying to see that it detects nothing in your CNet version, where the real threat seems to be present).

What might be happening, in theory, is that CNet provides different files according to downloaders' locations. The one I get seems to be a redirection to our download (which is "clean"), but for you it may generate an infected version. Hense my request to you:
 - Could you please send us the infected file? (by Dropbox, wetransfer.com etc.)
 - And tell where you are from

Thank you again for your support!

[Edit P.S. Filedir provides the latest version, it's just the description that is obsolete - the displayed date is way to old as well)

Update: I've realized that the infected version is coming from the "Huge Green Button" (the one present at most sites of this kind, which is never to be clicked I'd say), rather than "Direct Link" at the bottom. I am so used to this kind of issue that I didn't even think to try it first... It's true that even my local antivirus immediately reports the problem when I try this one, even before I confirm downloading.

On our download page, we've modified the Download Button link to pass directly to the "clean" download on CNet, without their infected downloader executable.

Thank you very much!  I've downloaded the program and am beginning to learn it.

I'd pretty much given up on CNet Download.com because "the big green Button" was virtually always infected, as you know.

Good to know there is a direct download link from CNet.  I'd never realized it would download a different version.

Thanks again!
