I suggest you manage to get rid of dinosaurs like AOL, that got fat in the past and keep linig on their past notority while providing less than mediocre service, compared to new younger providers.I know it depends on your client as well but, in the worst case, persuade him/her to create a usual GMail account and redirect mails to AOL address, if it's really indispensable.

Dmit OE,

I agree. I am very appreciative of everyone's help from OE support and developers.

I suggest you to make SMTP working. First, try to configure an email client application to use SMTP of your provider (or anyone else). When it works and AOL receives your messages, use the same parameters in OE.

everyone's contribution is appreciated. however, my past experience with this particular problem demanded and inordinate amount of effort. In retrospect, i now believe smtp mail() request with the suite of platform, mail, OS components will work but am unable to get the most simple info as to how to configure the mail() utility parameter values needed for the hosting platform. So, it remains unsolved and the black mark is awarded to my FAT COW hosting service provider.

Thx again all,.

One just needs to find a well-working SMTP server somewhere (which may not always be easy) and configure SMTP in Preferences->Publishing->Configuration.
