I'm extremely new to building websites so please talk to me like I don't know anything at all (because I don't). I'm wanting to add a very simple password field on a page and when the correct password is entered it opens the linked page. This is for a very basic "for-fun" game and although I would like to hide the password from anyone looking in the source code I'm not looking for something super secured. In simple terms is there an easy way to do this?

Password protected stuff is not for beginners.

If you want a password protected page you may use the packs but you need some expertise.

You may also put your page in a password protected folder.  But you need to handle yout host.

Maybe you know someone that can help you on that otherwise you need to study or to hire someone

Okay, well I would like to learn, and I can't think of a better starting point. So is there a good "to-the-point" tutorial anyone could recommend? I have found that once I actually do hands-on lessons I pick up pretty quickly just by looking at examples and figuring out how they work.

Try to add the UserSpace01 packs using the simplified automatic installation after looking at the wiki help

Two more points

Allways make a project back-up before proceeding with major changes:  Project-Other-Backup

Create a test project and test the packs prior to implement it in your main project.

Well, if you want to eat, you better lern to eat. :-) We all did it that way.

A certain amount to learn is covered as tutorials in this forum or on YouTube.
Don't hesitate.
The most important thing you already mastered: the english language. Would be fine it would include french languge, but that is not a must.
But, as always, there is no free breakfeast.

An important matter ist to learn *the purpose of layers*, and how to use them.
*Layers* in OE are widely known as *templates*. That saves you a lot of headaches.
And it is even simple.
Create a simple, rudimentary page, and then convert it to a layer (just one click). To use that layer as template for all of your pages.
I would recommend not to use an existing layer, if you really want to start from the beginning.

And - don't look into the source code of the OE websites. At least not at the beginning.

I'm just starting a new empty project from scratch.
That could be helpful for you.
I could put the code on one of my domains to download it. That is just a day 'old'.
Give me a note, if that would be welcome, and I will return the access credentials via OE-PN.

OE does not come as *ready to go*. It needs a considerable amount of knowledge and learning.
But once you mastered the basics, it just can not be beaten.
I do not know much of html or css.
But I created a pretty decent website, and that site is huge (some 16 GB), you really don't want to start with.

Welcome, and keep on rolling.
Anyway - it would be nice if you mention your homeland/country in your vika; that could avoid misunderstanding.
