At last, SOME PROGRESS, changing the password done the trick, and I see I get the hostGetParam.php file posted to the site. Here is the report.... Initiating connection, please wait... 220-######################################################### 220-Please upload your web files to the public_html directory. 220-Note that letters are case sensitive. 220-######################################################### 220 This is a private system - No anonymous login USER ******** 331 User rob@4xjournal.com OK. [EDIT removed the image as it contained the password] I thought I have my firewall settings ok? (maybe not), what does this message actually mean? Thanks so much for your ongoing help, I hope I can resolve these issues and continue learning about OE. Regards.

The Username also needs to be the plain domain name.
That should point to the base root of the domain, where the created check file (Test your settings) ist being placed. The description 'Username' is always confusing. That name is used to locate the created check file inside the domain, that file ist placed in the root. But your rob@4xjournal.com points to a non existing location. So the test file is created in the root, but because of your Username-'pointer' pointing to rob@... it can't be found (exactly as the result tells). Also you could omit the www in Adress URL de votre site. You might still encounter problems with the setting 'TLS'. You seem to be a real novice. Thats fine with me. And here you get any reasonable support for free. Welcome! Edited by digizar - Mar 08 2018 at 8:44am |

Hello Digizar,
Yes, I am certainly a novice compared to seasoned developers. I have had some experience with DW some time ago, and used to manage basic development, but lack a lot of knowledge on the technical side of things. I am attempting to fire up my (limited) skills but it's frustrating to get stuck opening the door with OpenElements! :) Yes, I have been very appreciative of your help, thanks, I will keep trying and I hope with perseverance I get there. Cheers. |

On your image, the message seemed to be the command containing username, password and server. I don't have enough FTP knowledge to be sure. I don't know either why your computer blocks it; can you try on another machine? Try to disable your firewall or antivirus temporarily to see if it changes something.

CWD www
550 Can't change directory to www: No such file or directory CWD public_html 550 Can't change directory to public_html: No such file or directory CWD htdocs 550 Can't change directory to htdocs: No such file or directory CWD httpdocs 550 Can't change directory to httpdocs: No such file or directory PWD I bet my neck ... that you did not enter the correct parameters into tese fields, as I explained: All the same name. With the Servername an ftp. in front. And the password without space. No www in front of Address URL de votre site. Your setting 'www' means: change working directory to www, which usually does not exist. It even tells you: 550 Can't change directory to www: No such file or directory. From then on things are screwed up. I recommend to clear ALL of these 4 fields completely, and set the mode to 'Normal', not to 'TLS'. And then enter all the same values into these fields (copy& paste). I even temporarily loan you a domain for testing (see screenshot below): The password comes to you via private message. If that does not work, a complete openElement de-installation, and re-installation would be my next recommendation. But I'm sure it works, because that's the domain I use with these parameters for daily testing. Edited by digizar - Mar 09 2018 at 4:15pm |
